Skateboarding

So I used to skateboard. A lot.

Here are a couple shots of me from back in 1998, when I was in high school.

Crooked grind Hardflip

Here’s a clip of me from early 2001.

I don’t skate much anymore. But now that I’m back on the West Coast, I’ve gone out a few times. Here are a couple shots I took of my friend Grant.

It’s funny—I’ve seen thousands of skateboarding photos but have never really taken my own. I’m not super stoked about these shots, but they’re OK for a first try. (In my opinion, the last shot below is the most amateurish of the bunch.)

Skateboard Wheels

Took the following photos earlier this evening.

DSC_0670The wheel was spinning; by keeping the shutter open for about 2 seconds (at f/5.6 and ISO 200), I was able to get this nice, smooth appearance (the wheel was actually extremely rough—see below).

DSC_0673 Similar shot.

DSC_0674Here’s one with somewhat different lighting.

DSC_0677  Another.

DSC_0689 - Copy (2) The same wheel, but not in motion.

DSC_0689 - Copy This is actually just a different version of the previous photo.

DSC_0696 Different angle for this one. The wheels were spinning here too, but it’s not super apparent because each one is outside the depth of field.
