Skateboarding

So I used to skateboard. A lot.

Here are a couple shots of me from back in 1998, when I was in high school.

Here’s a clip of me from early 2001.

I don’t skate much anymore. But now that I’m back on the West Coast, I’ve gone out a few times. Here are a couple shots I took of my friend Grant.

It’s funny—I’ve seen thousands of skateboarding photos but have never really taken my own. I’m not super stoked about these shots, but they’re OK for a first try. (In my opinion, the last shot below is the most amateurish of the bunch.)

 

 

Skateboard Wheels

Took the following photos earlier this evening.

The wheel was spinning; by keeping the shutter open for about 2 seconds (at f/5.6 and ISO 200), I was able to get this nice, smooth appearance (the wheel was actually extremely rough—see below).

Different angle for this one. The wheels were spinning here too, but it’s not super apparent because each one is outside the depth of field.
