Here are some shots I took at Huntington Beach earlier today.
Don’t know the surfers—just poached the shots.

So I used to skateboard. A lot.
Here are a couple shots of me from back in 1998, when I was in high school.
Here’s a clip of me from early 2001.
I don’t skate much anymore. But now that I’m back on the West Coast, I’ve gone out a few times. Here are a couple shots I took of my friend Grant.
It’s funny—I’ve seen thousands of skateboarding photos but have never really taken my own. I’m not super stoked about these shots, but they’re OK for a first try. (In my opinion, the last shot below is the most amateurish of the bunch.)
After an extended hiatus for driving cross country/apartment hunting/shirking responsibility, the photo blog is back—now from California.
In that spirit, here are some late summer California skies. Some of these photos are unedited. Oh, and credit for the last couple shots goes to my wife.
Now that I’m done with the bar examination, I’m back to taking photos.
Since my wife and I are moving from NC in a few days, we’re taking some time to revisit some of our favorite spots in the Triangle. We went to a few places in Durham today.
The first couple shots were taken on Duke’s East Campus, where Trinity College was first located when it relocated to Durham.
We then stopped by Duke and took some more photos, mostly of the chapel. I know I’ve already posted a number of Duke chapel shots (see here, here, and here), but here are some more. Unlike the previous posts, I’ve included a number of shots taken from inside the chapel.
We also had lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants, Elmo’s.
How’s this for some comfort food? Chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, corn bread, apple sauce, and cole slaw. (Sorry for the low quality, the photo was taken with a cell phone.)
Between studying for the bar exam and studying more for the bar exam, I haven’t had much time lately to do anything besides, well, study for the bar exam.
But I did get some night shots of Duke Chapel last week, which I had been meaning to do before moving West. Here’s what I came up with:
So we went to the NC Zoo today, which, despite being 85 miles away, is really a great place to hang out and shoot photos. Here’s what we got:
Some reptiles:
A seal. Yeah, his eyes looked like that.
An otter, chowing down on a fish.
This is how I felt after walking about 5 miles today.
This guy’s obviously behind a chain link fence, but I still kinda like the photo. Since I don’t expect to see any bald eagles in the wild in the near future, this will have to suffice.
A large, albeit not very exotic, creature.
The bowling pins are a nice touch.
I got a few shots of a humming bird:
More birds:
OK, these aren’t actually zoo animals. But I’ve got three cardinals in one shot—two males and a female. They’re skittish birds!
These guys aren’t very exotic either.
We really enjoyed seeing the gorillas. It was difficult shooting through dirty glass, but I got some OK shots:
I really like this one, actually.
The chimpanzees were definitely our favorites though. They put on a show for us today:
Again, it was difficult to shoot through the glass (because of both dirt and glare). But this older chimp was up-close, so I did my best.
This one just looked better in black & white.
And, for my favorite shot of the day . . .
Yep, this one is definitely my favorite. Great expression on this chimp.
